Während die Natur bunte Blätter in irre intensiven Farben präsentiert, hat sich in Detroit ein altes, leer stehendes Haus in ein Meer aus frischen Blüten und Pflanzen verwandelt. Blossoms against Blight. Blüten gegen den Verfall. ‘Beauty’ und ‘Blight’ gaben ein ungleiches, und doch harmonisches Paar bei dieser außergewöhnlichen floralen Installation ab.
Eine Floristin aus Ann Arbor hatte das Haus mit angrenzenden Grundstücken im letzten Jahr für 250 Dollar (!) erworben. Inspiriert wurde ihre Idee zum “Flower House Detroit” von Christo und Jeanne Claude, die 2012 eine Pariser Villa anlässlich der Dior Fashion Show mit Blumen füllten.
Das Flower House Detroit macht bereits von außen seinem Namen alle Ehre. An der verwitterten Fassade der Rückseite hat die lokale Künstlerin Ouizi ein buntes Blumenbouquet aufgemalt. Überall ums Haus ranken Blumen und Blüten. Im Haus gibt es 15 Räume. In jedem dieser Zimmer haben über 30 Flower-Designer aus dem ganzen Land ungewöhnliche Blumenarrangements geschaffen. Mal protzig prächtig, mal zart und fein. Alle dabei verwendeten Blumen und Pflanzen stammen aus amerikanischem Anbau.
Nach dem Veranstaltungswochenende wird das Gebäude sorgfältig zurück gebaut. Unterstützt von ReClaim Detroit, die die Materialien für andere Wiederaufbau-Projekte in Detroit einsetzen. Auf dem Grundstück wird eine Blumen-Farm und ein Design Zentrum entstehen. “Leidenschaft für Nachhaltigkeit. Liebe zur floralen Kunst. Verantwortung und Respekt für die Geschichte der Stadt Detroit”, von diesen Ideen lässt sich die Initiatorin und Besitzerin Lisa Wand leiten. Möglichst viele Menschen möchte sie mit ihrer Arbeit bereichern.
Mit dem “Flower House Detroit” ist das hervorragend gelungen. Die farbenfrohe, üppig blühende Kunst aus Blüten, Blättern, Pflanzen und Gemüse sah fantastisch aus. Schönheit in jeder Ecke. Prächtige Details für Augen und Seele. Pure Freude über die Schönheit von Mutter Natur.
Genießt die bunten Bilder. Und die letzten goldenen Oktobertage, in denen die Natur noch mal alles gibt!

Das ist ja der reine florale Wahnsinn! Wirklich wunderschön, auch oder besonders die schon angewelkten Blüten. Mein Favorit ist das Gemüsearrangement – kein Wunder, hatte früher mal Arcimboldo an den Wänden hängen Falls einer der Künstler mal in Köln ein Objekt sucht; ein bisschen Schmuck könnte unser Bad noch gebrauchen!

Yes, Chrissi – das war wirklich sensationell. Gut, dass ich ganz früh Tickets gesichert hatte, das Ding war nämlich komplett ausverkauft. Die leicht angewelkten Blumen sprechen auch zu mir … shabby chic eben 😉 Die überraschende Kälte in der Nacht zuvor hatte ihnen wohl etwas zugesetzt. Lass dir doch beim nächsten Vollbad wenigstens schon mal Rosenblüten hinein werfen …
